To get to Krabi, we started in Koh phangan, got the boat across to Surat thani, then a coach to Krabi (around 2hrs). We managed to secure a handy spot with lots of space in front of our feet, cass made LOTS of noise and did several poos! A little bit of a struggle on a moving bus, but it's all part of the adventure! Lots of snacks and a little nap! I took in the beautiful scenery on the way, sometimes its a little cheaper to travel this way, takes a bit longer but you see more! In total the journey was 4-5hrs.
We stayed at the new IBIS hotel in Krabi, relatively close to the beach and busy area. Modern and clean rooms, £21 per night! While in Krabi, we did yet more exploring. We found the wonderful hot springs, I didnt enjoy this too much myself as the sones are a little slimey...I would recommend enclosed sandals! But the boys loved it, a strange feeling, being in the hot sweaty jungle and dipping into steamy water! It was a lovely experience none the less!
We drove to visit the tiger cave, 1236 steps, taking it in turns to carry a toddler...Was about my yearly dose of exercise! The steps are hardly steps.....they are exceptionally steep, apparently the monks go up and down a number of times per day! You can visit the monks at the bottom of the steps, there is the option to leave a donation. There are swarms of monkeys, so be very careful with glasses, bags and cameras...they are cheeky little chaps!!
There are premium outlets, the same company you see in america, rome, the UK at portsmouth etc.....Lacoste, levis, timberland, nike reebok, We picked up a few bargains! This is the only one we have managed to find in Thailand so if you do visit Krabi it's worth a visit.
One evening we drove over to Phuket, We did the drive in under 2hrs as it was quiet, there is a GIGANTIC shopping mall, we ended up getting a papa johns pizza!
We left Krabi a day early as we felt we had done all we needed to do, and fancied seeing Ko Lanta....The beauty of not booking most of the trip until you are there...you can decide what to do when you want to do it, you will never really know until you are there in the flesh!
Krabi was a little too busy for us, but we did see some amazing sights!
